Sweet ‘Black kids’ rice pie

This pie was something I really wanted to give a try for a very long time.  I didn’t find a vegan recipe for it.    Maybe because it’s a typical Belgian pie?  So I had to invent one by myself.

This kind of pie (in his dairy version) is a favourite of teenage girl.  And while I was making it, I was listening to the Black kids CD.

RECIPE

  • 3/4 l oatmilk
  • 1 little bag vanilla-sugar
  • saffron
  • 125 g (dessert) rice
  • caster sugar
  • 1 egg-replacer
  • vanilla flavoured soy-yoghurt
  • 1 tbsp apple-cider vinegar
  1. Bring the oatmilk to a boil with the vanilla-sugar, saffron and perhaps a little bit of salt.
  2. When it boils add the rice.
  3. Let it boil for +- 40 min on a low heat and stir frequently.
  4. When the rice is ready, take your pot from your stove and add some sugar to your own taste (I used something like 3 tbsp).  Stir well.
  5. Now you can add 1 egg-replacer, the soy-yoghurt and the vinegar
  6. Put your mix in a round, greased oven-dish
  7. Put in the oven for more or less half an hour at 200°C.  It should get a little brown on top.

(By the way, teenage girl gave me a 10/10.)
